Health Benefits of Vegetables
The idea that good nutrition can help us stay healthy and prevent many chronic diseases has been around for a very long time. Hippocrates, a Greek physician who was born around 460 BC and is considered the “Father of Medicine,” is credited with the saying “Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” Thousands of years ago, he realized the importance of nutrition to good health and used diet and exercise to treat diseases such as diabetes.
Science has progressed greatly since then, of course. However, doctors and scientists still agree that the nutrients found in vegetables can greatly enhance our health.
